Situation
Needing technological development to support international supply chain
Vida, a shoe designer, manufacturer and seller, relies on Infor Nexus to support an international supply chain operation. As a result, the company depends on EDI as well as API and flat file integrations to automate and execute critical business processes. By investing in Infor’s CloudSuite and working and by leveraging an expert integration partner, Vida was able to reduce manual effort in consuming order data of all types and applying cash to open receivables.
Challenge
Managing a monumental automation and complex integration
While the automation might seem simple from a business perspective, it amounted to a significant development in this case, both in regards to cash applications and EDI. Specifically, the project required Doppio to work with Vida’s A/R team to develop an integration that would automate the manual creation of debit notes for thousands of statements, a challenging feat. The Infor M3 B2C integration was also further complicated due to third parties managing the direct-to-consumer platforms.
Action
Creating custom modifications and integrating for B2C
Following a detailed project plan and timeline, a team of Doppio consultants began the integrations. On the cash applications side, MAK modifications were created to build a custom process to automatically create debit notes into ARS125 from the ABS100 Bank Statement. In addition to this, several integrations were built for the B2C side of things including: new UPCs, inventory, order, and shipping and cancellation management; and last but not least, inbound return and credit orders.
Result
Fully automate B2C integrations reduces labour and capital costs
First, the MAK modifications and the customizations that were delivered enabled Vida to fully automate the handling of bank statements. Given that each statement typically required a few hours of manual work, thousands of hours were saved. This in turn translated into an immense reduction in labour costs that could then be allocated to better support business operations. Second, the company’s processes were seamlessly integrated with their ecommerce solution, rendering Vida’s B2C offering a technological success.

What did we learn?
Rigorous Testing
Order volume for some companies is high, and with orders needing to be shipped the same day, it is imperative that integrations are as scalable as possible throughout the development process. This means a rigorous continuous testing approach (agile) versus waiting to the end with a waterfall approach.
